Product Description Take your archery skills to the extreme with the awesome BIG BAD BOW launcher! Standing more than two feet tall, and designed just like a real compound bow, this cool launcher can fire soft foam NERF arrows up to forty feet away! So pull it back, aim and launch as you try out this extreme archery… NERF style!
Editorial Review Nerf has entered into many parts of the world of sporting goods. Basketball, of course, and football being the most famous. But who would have ever thought that there would be Nerf archery? The whimsically and accurately titled Big Bad Bow comes with three hard foam rubber arrows that you pull back and launch (the packaging claims 40 feet, ours came up a little short of that but not by much). There's a target scope to help take careful aim at targets. Unlike archery, the arrows can't really stick to anything so you're better off using them to knock over pyramids and things like that. Also unlike a traditional bow and arrow, there's a trigger mechanism that actually does the firing. Still the traditional and low-tech approach is refreshing and, most importantly, fun. --Charlie Williams

Awesome July 25, 2010 Nick I bought this gun at a walmart so that I could single it for an upcoming nerf war. from just a new brass barrel im getting about 155 feet angled with a good stefan. I wrapped some E-Tape around the tip so I could still fire the arrows and am getting stock arrow ranges still. I am very impressed with this gun and hope to have another soon!
Looks better than it shoots July 13, 2010 James Aldrich (over by Green Bay) Purchased in order to try as an addition to the suction tip dart shooting crossbows I like for skirmish games. Rather annoying to assemble unless one skips the purely decorative string. Primary deficiency is weak shooting. Even if one could manage to accurately target an opponent beyond four feet, anyone with a pulse can dodge or block the arrow. The "other" brand's replacement arrows were somewhat more effective once they were made to fit the Nerf weapon correctly. Good for playing catch with foam arrows at close range but no match for the crossbows in "combat."
Replacing earlier review after I read the directions June 21, 2010 Dwayne L. Talkington (Baltimore, MD) This was a gift my wife and I bought for my son't birthday. At the party while my son was still opening gifts a friend put it together "reading the directions". Well, actually I found out today when I was cleaning things up where we had the party he didn't read the directions too well and the way I had rigged th bow to work was the proper way for it to be set up.
It isn't a great product, but it is fun and now from reading other reviews and replies people made I see I can get extra arrows cheap enough because they are just foam and probably won't last long. Not sure what the deal is with Amazon showing the darts from the guns because from what I have read the darts won't work with this without some modification.
Good toy once you figure some key things out... March 27, 2010 David A. Grubb (Georgetown, IN United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a pretty good toy plagued by two issues:
1. Given the size of the gun, 35 (at best) feet seems lousy.
2. It only comes with three arrows.
However, these are EASILY dealt with:
1. Take out the air restrictor. It's louder, but shoots better. You can cut off the end so it will shoot microdarts, too. Your choice. Search BBB mods and you'll find it.
2. Instead of going through all the trouble to order replacement arrows from Hasbro, buy the Air Zone Foam Arrow refill pack. They work fine and actually seem to shoot further than Nerf's arrows! For $6, I now have 6 better shooting arrows.
Read the other reviews if you want more info about the actual item, but these issues were the only real complaints I had, and they're fixable.
Replacement Arrows January 27, 2010 A. Vawter (Walla Walla, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son loves this toy, but it a little hard on the arrows. After a long search and several phone calls, we found them: Call Hasbro toys at 800-327-8264 (a different # than the general contact # on their web site). Replacement arrows were $1 each, including shipping! Pretty easy!
